Gestalt Institute for Self Development and Training (GIST) belongs to Gestalt Network Pacific Rim having presence in Tokyo, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. The Institute was found by Dr. Paula Bottome. GNPR has started provision of services and training in Hong Kong since 1989. In 1999, GIST is formally established as a non-profit making organization registered under the Society Ordinance.

GIST is based in Hong Kong with a mission to express love and provide nurturance to people in need through holistic concern and pastoral counselling integrating body, mind and spirit. To achieve this mission, we have three major areas of work in our establishment.

We would like to act as a forum for social service practitioners, helping professionals and academia interested in the integration of Gestalt therapy with family education, personal growth and clinical practice. We would like to render quality counselling services, experiential training and growth groups. Lastly, we would like to train competent Gestalt therapy practitioners and develop indigenized counselling practice relevant to families and individuals in Hong Kong.

Currently, GIST members include academia from CUHK, HKU, CITY U, HKPU, social workers, teachers and counsellors.
